Final Major Project: Brutal Controversy

University Final Major Project brief : Design a publication exploring experimental layout, photography, following the subjects of art and design.

Project Outcome: A publication documenting the controversy surrounding brutalism, the modernist  style of architecture and the exploration of its humanist repetitive form. Using a flexible six column grid to place the text and image within my publication to provide variety, and with the addition of block colour breaking this fundamental grid to enhance the subject, I have explored the aspects of the style which have provoked such debate. This publication contains a series of interviews with practicing architects displaying different opinions on the subject.

Hamleys 250th Anniversary

 

University brief: to design new promotional material to celebrate Hamleys 250th Anniversary.

Outcome: Hamleys 250th Anniversary wallpaper. These wallpaper designs consist of illustrations showing toys through the ages, reflecting how Hamleys toys have changed over 250 years. I have used this same idea in four different designs – dolls, cars, rocking horses and teddies, printed on newsprint paper giving the wrapping a special feel, all created using Illustrator CS3.
